The story is set in the 21st century, where Kate Pryde came out of the mutant concentration camp to bring medicines to the rebels.
Attacked by vandals, she is rescued by Logan, who has just returned to town.
Returning to the concentration camp, guarded by the Sentinels, she crosses the cemetery that surrounds it.
Among the gravestones are Johnny Storm, Ben Grimm, Charles Xavier, Scott Summers, Kurt Wagner, Reed Richards, Warren Worthington III and Hank McCoy.
Some survivors are waiting for her: Ororo, Peter Rasputin, Franklin Richards, Rachel Summers (daughter of Jean and Scott) and Magneto.
Rachel uses her powers to send Kate's spirit back into her young body.
Kitty is facing the danger room for the first time.
Terrified, she closes her eyes and crosses it intangible, nullifying all its technology.
At the end of the trial, she is possessed by her old self spirit and passes out.
When he wakes up in the infirmary, it's old Kate who talks to the X-men.
She explains that the death of the mutants is due to the murder of Senator Kelly, which they must then foil.
In the future Logan is helping the few survivors to escape, but they are tracked down.
Franklin Richards is immediately incinerated.
In the past, Mistique sneaks into the Pentagon, accompanied by other members of the fraternity: her wife Destiny (at the time presented as a friend), Avalanche, Pyro and Blob.
The story ends with the attack of the brotherhood, which unexpectedly finds itself against the X-men.
One of the best stories of the Claremont cycle. Innovative, at the time, it was then repeatedly revived afterwards.
Based on the paradoxes of time travel.
