Fantasy story set in an indefinite ancient era.
A couple of pirates, an old sailor and a young cabin boy, are forced to flee after drinking a rare liquor intended for the Lord of Port Xarnath.
They are saved by a rival maitresse, Ellora, who hides them in her brothel.
While they are her guests they discover that the lord of the port, Sheik Ad Aphax (a dragon-like but bipedal creature), had been hired to bring order.
With the help of a necromancer, Kutub-Uk-Tuglat-Nagar, he killed the council and took command.
Now he manages the largest brothel in the port, where very young prostitutes work, while the others are crushed by taxes.
The young cabin boy proposes to reach the Island of the Sirens, a place considered mythological, to hire those splendid creatures and save the Ellora brothel.
The brothel's handyman, the muscular and charming Norden, also leaves with them.
The sheik hires the pirate Tao Bang to capture them, but the woman has a score to settle with Norden, with whom she was a partner.
After capture, the hub's magic reveals the route to Virgin Island.
