Bart Simpson and Milhouse have created a superhero comic featuring Ostrycus, a character of their own invention.
After a sales pitch at school, they try a comic book convention.
They propose the comic to Boffo Comics, but are rejected.
A few months later they discover that Boffo Comics has launched a new character, La Perla, shamelessly copied from theirs.
When sales start to drop, authors who have plagiarized their character contact them to help write the stories for them.
Bart, with the help of Lisa, manages to unmask them.
In this story the authors make fun of their own publishing house (Bongo Entertainment) and the entire comics market!

After wreaking havoc in Springfield, Jimbo runs out of gas and is stopped.
