The life of a turn-of-the-century Djinn, reconstructed from the research of a granddaughter in search of her origins.
This tale is devoted exclusively to the past, but a few years after the events in Istanbul.
The trio has at least two children: a girl and a boy (it's not known which of the two women).
They have found the Black Sultan's treasure and are also in possession of a mysterious Blue Stone.
During the world tour they are doing, they reach Africa.
Jade attracts the attention of a mysterious local man, a sorcerer, who names the pearl in her earring "Anaktu".
As they attempt to leave, their boat is boarded by a group of savages, who kidnap Jade and Lord Nelson.
Lady Nelson is abandoned among the corpses of the crew and is also raped by the manager of a circus, angry with Jade.
Rescued by a white explorer, Charles Augery, she tells her strange story.
Meanwhile, Jade is consecrated by the indigenous tribe to the goddess Anaktu, whose statue has a twin earring to that of Jade.
