Captain America attends the funeral of his fellow soldier during World War II, being accompanied by Captain Marvel and Starbrand.
After the funeral he shows Brandy the house of her mother, who died in childbirth in a Shi'ar prison.
Starbrand is struck by the revelation, but they are interrupted by a team of Deathloks.
Soon after they are all attacked by Ghost Goblin (Norman Osborn) and Black Skull (Red Skull).
Ghost Goblin uses the heads of slain Ghosts instead of pumpkin bombs.
Captain America and Captain Marvel only manage to slow down the members of the multiversal Lords of Evil, saving the life of a single Deathlok.
Starbrand puts them on the run and absorbs the power of a dozen Ghost heads left behind by Ghost Goblin.
Energy makes Starbrand become an adolescent.
